They are very deceiving and treat their loyal tenants like crap. I have been at UH for a little over 2 years. My first rent started at 525 including the ridiculous 35 dollar parking fee, my rent is now 560 with parking. I have two new roommates, both of whom are teenagers while my other roommate and I are in our mid 20s. They also gave them way lower rent, 540 and free parking. We just got our renewal letters and they said that the two of us that have been here for years will be paying higher rent and the other two will have lower rent. This came in separate letters of course. This year, we got the fire extinguisher notices the afternoon that they were due to the office. Luckily I was home at the time. After a couple of days I went to pick it up and there was a notice at the office stating that if they were not picked up that day there would be a 55 dollar fee. Tons of break ins including one on the first floor that had a faulty sliding door that the management wouldn't repair. The apartment lost everything and now UH won't do ... tenants like crap. Most of the security gates don't work and there are plenty of doors missing handles requiring you to stick your hand in the hole to open the door. The fire alarm is faulty and will go off at random with or without the assistance of drunks. Neighbors like to have parties and the smell of pot can be often found in the hallways. There was a car fire in the parking deck and it took them days to clean it up and still left glass shards for people to drive and walk over. There are also two huge sticky spots in the breezeway that have been there for over a month. It took them more than two weeks after placing a work order and numerous calls for maintenance to show up to just look at the problem and another week to fix it. This has happened a few times to others I know as well. They also like to sneak in random fees like having chairs on your balcony. Anytime you call the office they grill you if you want to speak to the management only to tell you that she isn't available. She never is. If you decide to show up at the office you'll find all of the workers hanging out and being loud. When you walk in they all will stare and not take you seriously. I will never live here again and you shouldn't either. Show full review Dont live here PLEASE HEAD THIS WARNING: I have lived at UH for 2 years. The first year was cool b/c the Management was pretty good. This past year has been SHOCKING. They have many schemes to get you out of your money. 1. PARKING: they will say that rent is ONLY "X" amount, BUT to park in parking deck you must pay an extra $35 a month. (They tell you this after you sign the lease.) 2. They randomly leave letters, saying you must bring down your fire extinguisher by a few day later, or incur a $55 fee per person in the apartment. Hope you actually get a letter in your mailbox warning you about this. 3. Say you move into an apartment, and take pretty good care of it. When you move out, they will charge you with some ridiculous stuff, and threaten to turn you in to collections if you argue the legitimacy of their charges. 4. The Mavericks are all pretty helpful, but the senior management is less than cordial. 5. Many car break-ins. 6. Tons of thugs/ parties ( Don't expect to sleep)
