Concrete hellscape - run for your life So here's my story. I thought this'd be a great place to live -- close to campus, office staff seemed nice, really attractive price. Sure, it was ugly inside (cinderblock walls and all), but hey -- I'd make a few sacrifices here and there if it meant a decent place to live that's close to campus and cheap. Well, they say 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but sometimes it's flat out horrible. Maintenance guys are nice enough, but don't do a very good job. I reported a fan squeaking and shaking so hard it looked dangerous, and they came in, slapped some tape on it, and told me not to turn it above medium. There are two ways maintenance will deal with your problems: either they're in the office when you go in and ask, and it'll get done right then, or they're not, and you'll wait two or three weeks and file multiple reports before hearing anything. Oh, and I'm adding my voice to the chorus complaining about roaches. Another few choice stories: A female friend of mine was living with me for a few ... So here's my story. She would often stay inside so she wouldn't get hit on by creepy guys. Oh, and over Christmas break, five men with guns broke down the door of a drug dealer living on the 1st floor (i.e., my floor) and robbed him. So that's nice. And those cinderblock walls? They don't do as much to block out the noise as you might think. The guys who sold me on the place straight-up lied to me. "You won't hear a thing from your neighbors!" they said. Well, that might be true -- if the wall separating my 1 br. from the studio next door wasn't made out of fake wood paneling. I can hear him use his microwave. I can hear him fight on the phone at 10:30 every night. And the windows and doors fit so poorly that even though the walls might be thick, the gaps between wall and door, or wall and window, are so great that you'll hear everything that goes on outside. Have fun trying to write papers with screaming 10 yr. olds running around outside at 10:30 at night. Seriously, stay the hell away from this place. They shut off the cooling unit early this year and i quote management "BRANDON" on this one "Some old person here complained so we turned it off, we didn't think it was still going to be hot at the end of the week!". It was in the 80's and mid 90's for two weeks of hot humid hell. They have roachs like no other. I was on the thrid floor and they were everywere. The place smells all the time. Laundry room is over priced. O and when it was 110 degrees out the cooler unit could not keep up with the demand my thrid floor apartment. I talked to a neighbor and he was on the 4th floor and he said it was 90 + in his apartment. I just moved out of this place and i found that the new management is still the same as the old ... I am in my early 20's white male 6' 185 pounds and i was scared a few times. You can hear gun shots, loud neighbors, and management does not care at all.
